The DraftMagic.com team recently made the trip to PAX East, Penny Arcade’s three-day gaming convention hosted at Boston’s Hynes Convention Center. While others waited in two-hour lines to listen to the kid who played Wesley on Star Trek talk about something, we spent the weekend qualifying as many members of our team for the MTGO 5K Draft, an incredible four of our six members who played qualifying for a spot in the final event. This is more impressive when you take into account that most of the team had never drafted Urza’s Saga, nor even played back when this set was part of any relevant format.
You can watch most of us unfortunately scrub-out in the first round today on DailyMTGs Draft Viewer. Staffer Christopher Tourloukis playing as “cowwithhat” managed to make it to the finals. He then lost the first place spot and an additional $1000 in prize money after a mis-click left him unable to counter a Veiling Serpent, which promptly proceeded to smash his face in.
Additionally, Kevin and Jeff also managed to win the gigantic Team Minimaster tournament, taking home a foil uncut sheet of Worldwake and an iPod Touch for their troubles.
Good work team!
For the record
