Happy Tuesday all! We’re back like a heart attack with yet another Rise of the Eldrazi 8-4 draft from resident play wizard Marlon Egolf. Watch Merl2Perl beat his way though an 8-4 Magic: The Gathering Online Draft Queue, again featuring Rise of the Eldrazi. Will he go big, or go home!?

Hey, first of all thank you fot those vids. Your site has become a daily source to visit. keep it up!
Now on to the little troubles I encountered:
While watching your draft, I couldn´t switch to fullscreen mode, because whenever I did, it seemed to cut off the left and right borders to a few inches. Probably to make it fit the screen on a vertical scale. I don´t know if that´s a youtube issue, or your screen is just incredibly wide. I use a “common” 4:3 screen ratio monitor. I tried to reload the videos a couple of times, but nothing seemed to help.
When in non-fullscreen-mode I just couldn´t decipher the cards. Just too small to. Going fullscreen on the other hand left me with not seeing the far left cards (while drafting) or not seeing the first column of lands + creatures (during the matches).
You might want to look into that, as I do not mean any harm, just telling my experience here. Maybe there are others out there encountering the same issues.
In either case, continue woth your vids, please. I´d rather watch a vid with screwed proportions (whomever fault it may be), than no vid at all. ;)
Greetings from overseas,
Fixed
Edit:
Funnily enough, the resolution issues seemed to vanish into thin air in round 2. But still, it´s now scaled to horizontically match my screen, which makes some cards really, really small. I´m starting to think this might be due to your recording resolution. In this case, I cannot blame you for having a large screen, as well as me for being too poor to buy a wider one. ;)
So just take my ranting as some weird kind of flattering for putting up your vids here. ;)
No – you’re correct. I will be yelling at Marlon to use the correct screen resolution in the future :p
This website rocks! Keep it up guys!
Hello there. I really love what you guys are doing with this site and all:) I’ve been looking for vids like this for a long time. But… This draft right here had soooo many play-mistakes in it that I felt I HAD to leave a ccomment. It seemed to me that you weren’t concentrated at all. I thought of better and more correct plays almost every turn, and some of your plays were straight up bad. The reason I’m telling you this is not to hate, really, but I watch these videos to learn from them, and I hope that, in the future, you guys will try to play as flawlessly as possible. Anyhow… Still love what you’re doing, even though this draft got on my nerves and I felt a desire to throw something at my computer out of sheer frustration and disbelief of what noobiness I had become witness to:) kidding…
For instance… In the game where you played against a stomper cub with snake umbra. Why not just level the cryptologis to three and then block with the drake, knocking off the umbra and then you can block with a leveled up zulaport enforcer. That was his only threat at the moment and you would have had a better long-game because of the cryptologist. And in another game you talked about how tempting it was to play halimar waavewatch, but felt you had to level up the cryptologist to four countrs? it only needs three. And… The dreamstone hedron as well as the ulamog crusher should have hit the board much earlier. The hedron would have made enough mana to play more of your spells. You did, after all, draw an extra card per turn. And then, the last round before he scooped you could have just won there and then by regressing and last kiss-ing AND level up the wavewatch. Even though you’re winning, it’s pretty frustrating to witness such inefficiency. I could just go on and on and on, but I take it you get what I mean.
And not last kissing the nest invader. WTF? Take 4 or six damage or whatever. You’re even manascrewed. you expect to have time for more? This is crazy.
Jonas,
Yeah, I thought the cryptologist only had 2 counters on it for some reason, which is why I leveled it again. I didn’t notice during the game or even during the editing, and only found out after I posted the video and people mentioned it. You’re probably correct about blocking the cub with the champions drake as well. I was trying to get into a race situation and draw into my outs, but I should have adjusted my gameplan once I got low on life. Also, I did last kiss the nest invader. I took an extra hit in order to leave mana open for deprive, but once he passed with out playing anything relevant I killed his guy, so I’m not exactly sure what you’re talking about in that case.
My bad, I was commenting as I watched. Your play right there seemed better than what I would have done:) You won in any case:)
