It’s been just a few months since we launched DraftMagic.com, and already the site is gaining in popularity at a fantastic (and alarming) rate. Everyday more and more people are discovering the site, and we’ve now got over two hundred YouTube subscribers! Unfortunately, we haven’t been 100% able to keep up with updating the site on a regular basis, which is why we’re looking to possibly bring some new faces aboard…
If you are an awesome and entertaining Magic: The Gathering player looking to contribute to one of the web’s fastest growing MTG websites, we’d love to hear from you! This is a great chance for someone passionate about the game of Magic to get their work out there.
What we’re looking for
Fun and friendly people who are passionate about the game of Magic: the Gathering
What we’re not looking for
Jerks too busy scraping out wins on rule-technicalities to produce helpful content
Article Writers
- Writers should have a strong grasp of the English language, with their writing displaying a minimum of spelling and grammatical errors. (We have an editor but he’s overworked as it is…)
- Preference will lean towards any applicants with an established record of tournament-level Magic performance (though all applicants will be considered)
- Article Writers will be expected to produce about two (2) articles a month
- We are open to all types of content! Please feel free to pitch your idea for an ongoing column, or whatever Magic-related subject you’d be interested in writing about
- Applicants should submit a five hundred (500) word minimum writing-sample to draftmagic@[NOSPAM]gmail.com, mentioning any relevant writing or Magic experience. This sample does not need to be Magic related (though it would be nice!)
Video Personalities
- Individuals looking to contribute video content should have a minor background in video production and editing, as well as a computer capable of capturing and rendering HD footage. (The most common program for this is Camtasia)
- Very interested in applicants who can cover formats other than the most current draft format. This includes Standard, Extended, Vintage, Pauper, and older draft formats
- Again, preference will lean towards any applicants with an established record of tournament-level Magic performance (though all applicants will be considered)
- Applicants should contact draftmagic@[NOSPAM]gmail.com with some details about what you’d be interested in covering and any other relevent information. Applicants we like will be sent instructions on how to record a trial video, so that we can judge whether or not your style would be a good fit for the site.
though the above bullet-points might sound restricting, we really are open to just about anybody, and no one should think that we’re only interested in Pro-Tour players or something.
We’ll also be upfront and admit this is currently a non-paying gig, and will probably remain that way for the near future (we aren’t exactly raking in the dough with the few Amazon and Google ads you see sprinkled about). The real benefits right now are having your writing or videos reach our ever-growing audience, and having a rather nice bullet point on your resume for all aspiring content-producers out there. And of course, though we’re not making money now who knows what’ll happen in the future…
Hope to be hearing from you!

I understand that the website is called “Draftmagic,” but there is only so much non-pro players will be able to talk about for limited. Would be I able to write about constructed? For example, everyone loves a good tournament report.
Constructed is fine! We are hoping to cover a variety of formats, though the emphasis will be on Draft.
