Vito Gesualdi (endlesschris) takes on an 8-4 M11 Draft for America’s favorite Magic the Gathering website (or so we like to dream). Comments appreciated, as always! (Fixed our earlier FAIL, in which M11 Draft #1 was displayed instead)
Magic 2011 (M11) Draft Video #11
– September 2, 2010Posted in: Magic 2011, Videos

Pretty sure this video links to draft #1
I enjoyed the Act of Treason on Serra Ascendant play. From what I’ve seen and experienced you should be playing 17 land in M11 draft; it has worked out really well for me so far, and you seem to flood fairly often. Especially in this draft/deck with Elves and Ranger.
In m1/g1 you missed a point of damage from your Llanowar Elf that didn’t matter, but tight play can matter sometimes.
Great draft as always, sucks about the bolt at the end lol. Keep ‘em coming! :)
Yes this is video draft 1. I’m not sure where number 11 is
Just a small point, in m2/g1 you figured he would double block your wurm with the cloud elemental and the drake. However, the cloud wouldn’t be able to block a non-flyer.
I noticed that as well HexStar. I usually gleefully run past Cloud Elementals so I don’t know what mental block was hitting me there… – Gesualdi
You wanted something that would kill Phantom Beast right away, yet you put Aluring Siren on bottom?
Hey Gesualdi – in the middle of watching this draft but I wanted to comment on an earlier draft – I was watching your ROE #10 the other night… when you got to go Ulamog’s Crusher into All is Dust his entire hand+board … and it was some of the funniest shit I’ve ever seen in a draft video. Thanks for that, man.
It didn’t really matter because the packleader died, but don’t forget that with packleader on the board your creatures of power greater than 2 become free in terms of cards in hand. That actually helped me win once as I went Garruk’s Companion into some other 3 power creature into Ancient Hellkite.
That deck was fun, it had tons of ramp… but 3/5 games saw me paired with people not in my pod… who appeared to have taken every Doom Blade opened at their table. The other two games… one of them I managed to flood myself with lands (cultivating twice and each turn after… drawing lands?) despite only running 15. Two games in a row. Almost won one of those, but the other guy had fireball. The other was an easy win. Also facing off against such wonders as “turn 5 baneslayer” is rough no matter what deck you get.
I have noticed the resolution on the second video is crystal clear… please continue to do whatever you did to get it to play like that… I usually cannot read the card literature but that recording is great.
Keep up the good work
Hey Donlin, at the bottom of YouTube videos you can choose the resolution. Use 720P and you should be able to see the cards fine.
I love these videos.
@Michael – Eh, I didn’t need Beast dead, and a card that would’ve killed it another turn from then seemed boring compared to just drawing more flyers or something else
@Ryan – Thanks for the love man. Glad I got that moment on tape :D
In that last game, your deck got shuffled when you cast the cultivate that should have been scryed away. That means drawing a few cards to see whether the mistake cost you doesnt tell you anything. So if you remembered to scry EOT you may have won after all.
Great read! You should definitely follow up to this topic :P
