Magic the Gathering Online has announced the 2011 Community Cup event, where players can nominate their favorite MTGO players to represent the community at Wizards headquarters. If the representatives win, cool prizes are handed out to all MTGO members who helped get them there (First year it was Momir Vig avatars, second year it was a Mirrodin draft set). The important theme here is community, so the likely representatives would have to be people who have helped to spotlight what a great product MTGO really is. Perhaps they utilized an entire website to spotlight the product, encouraging new players with their wacky exploits? Maybe they set up forums and engaged fans in article comments to help keep this game alive? Wish I knew some people like that I could nominate.
So uh… you can learn more about nominations on Wizards’ official site (http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/other/04262011c). God, I really wish I could think of someone…

Go Marlon GO !
:) sorry Vito, I nominated Egolf. FTW!
1 for Vito from me. gl.
go merl2pearl
I voted for merl2pearl, but you failed to notice that the nominations are accepted only until May 4th… tomorrow, that is :)
Voted for my man Marlon, Vito is not bad tho..
Vito you need to get drunk more when drafting. That’s what people are voting for these days. Anyway I do appreciate the site so I’ll give you my vote.
voted Marlon rather than Vito because we want the community team to win ;-)
I voted for you vito, voted for egolf on the basis that he does it drunk. Crown reserved or odouls. Either or.
The subtlety is tangible enough to cut with a knife.
Remember, a vote for Egolf is a vote for the children
As much as I’d like to see Vito and Egolf there… The language around here is often quite salty, not to mention the drunkenness. The funny, performance enhancing drunkenness.
Also, it’s not a public vote, the like is for nominations. WotC will be inviting the community team from the nomination people email in — and while big numbers for someone might help, it’s not a popularity game.
I heard they’re calling it the Erik Friborg community cup, a tribute the the fallen warrior Hamtastic. That, I think, we can all support.
Merl,
If I voted for you how drunk would you be when you arrived to WotC HQ?
and what would you do to MaRo?
a. Headbut
b. Neck Snap
c. Upper Cut
d. High Five
Marlon all the way…Vito is a smug jackass.
I obviously stand no chance of winning this thing, but maybe a charity vote from someone? Anyone? Bueller? Bueller?
@Jaksiel
You have to have contributed something to the mtgo community. The first step is getting an mtgo account. gl.
I voted Egolf, But dont worry vito, I said lots of good stuff about the site :p.
While I appreciate the text of the address where the article is, I just thought I’d drop you a line to let you know about the new-fangled invention called a ‘hyperlink’. Through this innovation, it is possible to send someone to another page by them merely clicking on the underlined text!
I look forward to seeing what Draft Magic does with such advanced technology.
