Magic is doing some fun Alternate-Reality type stuff for the release of Innistrad. They kicked it off with this Facebook post today.

Following that twitter link (http://twitter.com/#!/brauerjosh) finds us a dumb account with some weird links to various blog posts. The important thing here is this video link, which clearly shows off some new Innistrad cards (all cleverly wiped clean of most of their info).
Anyhow, we at DraftMagic do not care about viral campaigns at all. What we care about is the GIANT STACK OF DUAL LANDS in the video. This can’t be a coincidence can it? Our first thought is that maybe they’ll just be given away as a prize at the end of this ARG nonsense. Letting our minds run away with themselves, we could also see them doing the same thing they did with Zendikar, and selectively distributing duals throughout regular booster packs. If we make a crazy leap of faith, this stupid video PROVES WITHOUT A DOUBT that the original duals are being reprinted.
Anyhow, we’ll be keeping an eye on Josh Brauer and his little haunted Magic card problem…

That would be so sweet! Seems pretty unlikely though :(
I think they’re on the reserve list. Also, this vid is just some dude showing you random cards that he has. But it’s good to dream I suppose
Strange video indeed. I think you’re right about the ARG thing Vito. I didn’t know about that crazy thing they did for Zendikar, too bad I came back to paper magic for Scars…
@ Marlon : I don’t think the video is so random actually. Besides the fact that the guy has some Innistrad cards that are not yet released (do we know all of them btw ?), he also has that book, which bears the symbol of Avacyn, the white church that is opposed to the bad werewolves from hell. I double-checked it to be sure it wasn’t some sort of USSR memorabilia, and it appears on some of the spoiled white cards from the upcoming set.
god i fucking love you guys. god i fucking hate channelfireball.
They *SHOULD* reprint the original Dual Lands, as well as many other legacy staples such as Force of Will.
Yes, there would be come collectors up in arms over this, but the fact is that with such a high price tag on many of these staples, it prohibits a ridiculously large number of potential players from participating.
WoTC should revert their reserve list and do something that would hurt a few to benefit many.
As marlon said they are on the reserved list so they won’t get reprinted. WotC doesn’t want to piss off all the people which have bought those expensive cards… I think one of the few very expensice cards we might see reprinted is force of will since it isn’t on the reserved list, just an uncommon and it would let many people enter the legacy format… but that’s pretty baseless speculation as well^^.
Would love to see a podcast when all the cards of innastrad are spoilered, perhaps with some opinions, discussions and some backgroundstory of draftmagic.com (how all of it began ;))
Notice how the lands he spends more time showing happen to be enemy colors. Maybe he was hinting at the enemy M10 duals they are printing. This was posted before they were revealed.
The reserved list prevents them from doing this, and WoTC has made it clear that they are sticking to the reserved list. What they can do (and I know for a fact they have tested) is print snow-covered duals. At Gencon, they were shoing off proxy snow-covered duals that they had tested to potentially put in the commander theme decks. Ultimately though, they settled on *not* doing this and decided to support modern instead of Legacy.
I appreciate the enthusiasm, but this type of stuff kind of takes away from the validity of this website.
fuk u abe ~!~!~! fukkk uuu
Validity? What on earth are you talking about?
Vito if you ever have an illegitimate child and need someone to take care of him/her let me know I will totally take him/her in. just saying.
lol, wild speculation is right :)
What do you mean by “doing the same thing they did with Zendikar”?
Maybe he means the full art lands?
@Honestabe i’m pretty sure snow-covered duals would cause just as much butthurt as reprinting the old duals
Did you guys get a postcard with some wierd lore related stuff with a link to this brauerjosh’s twitter aswell?
Wizards didn’t reprint duals when Legacy was at its height. They didn’t reprint duals when the reserved list was worded ambiguously and would have allowed it. Why would they ever reprint them now for a format that does not need them? If they don’t exist, no one is at a disadvantage.
Even without that logic, the new reprint policy makes it clear what Wizard’s stance is on functional reprints.
Vito, didn’t you tell us a few months ago the reason why they can’t reprint cards that are strictly better than basic lands? I think it was in your review of the five best cards in the early expansions.
The Zendikar thing I’m referring to is how they shoved Black Lotuses and Moxes into packs of Zendikar.
