This popped up just after I loaded this site for some reason, therefore I cannot resist.
First!
I will now commence the listening.
Vids appear to be Private…
Also, gratz Boyks! (Lol at “newcomer” though)
The vids are indeed private and therefore not viewable.
There was some problems. Fixed now.
Great podcast. Will be checking regularly for another (not that I don’t already check the website daily)!
Nice commentary and some good insights. I don’t completely agree with everything, but thank you for your takes!
Whoever was playing with something on their desk, picking it up and dropping it repeatedly, should be kicked in the junk.
LOL at least use a playmat before obnoxiously rolling dice during a Podcast. I did enjoy the show other than that though.
Too many voices. Still a good listen though.
Yeah. I found it hard to know when to jump in.
In the next one we should maybe have a few roundtable questions/topics thrown in just to get a few segments that have a bit more order to them.
I love these kinda videos. It was a good vid, like what you guys are saying. I’m curious what you guys feel about Tragic Slip, if you think its as bonkers as everyone else. And I love the awkward trying to chime in. Makes you guys relatable xD
On the terms of how to make magic humorously satanistic:
Next time you’re in a public draft, when you sacrifice cloistered youth to a demon or a vampire, you make sure you say it in the most macabre way possible.
That might be good Mr. Frankel. The problem with knowing when to chime in comes from not having the facial and body language queues and the general lack of ever doing such a thing from my side.
Interesting discussions, however, it would be nice to be able to see screen shots of the cards that are being discussed. Also every now and then there should be a six drink minimum prior to your round table, it would make for some good times. Reference Egolf’s liquor induced Innistrad draft, which was very entertaining. Keep up the great work!
Great analysis as usual. While everyone has been talking about power creep being a problem, it’s worse because the creep seems so arbitrary. In innistrad a black zombie is reliably a 2/2 for 2, whereas a blue zombie for three is a 1/4 that mills, a 3/4 that flies, a 5/6 mythic that also flies or now a 3/6 that enters tapped. The world of magic requires decent balance amongst the colors but blue seems to be getting stuff it never would have in the past. With good early beaters and plentiful bounce, blue gets to be the deck that everyone hates. You guys are right that Drogskol Reaver is amongst the worst designed cards in recent memory. If he stored cards underneath himself and you got the cards when he dies, at least it would make sense flavor wise. As it is if you get to cast him, you shouldn’t lose the game. Massive card draw and lifelink on a huge flyer is oppressive.
If you guys are going to do this regularly, please get it up on iTunes or at least make an audio file we can download.
Sick podcast. Do it weekly.
I think that if you’re going to do the podcast as a video, it would be cool to, you know, edit it with pictures of the cards you are talking about. Especially in the instances where none of you seem to know a card’s name, and I’m trying to figure out what the heck you’re talking about.
But if you’re going to do more regular podcasts that are only audio, it would be nice for you to make it as a downloadable audio file, or on iTunes. This would be a great way to spend a couple morning commutes.
Vorapede and the other good undying cards are likely to see play in black/green pox in standard.
Great discussion. You guys focus on limited mostly, so I thought I bring up that it seems like undying and Melira might be good in constructed. There’s that Birthing Pod deck in Modern too, using Melira, and these creatures seem to maybe break that open. I guess it will remain to be seen, but some sort of R/G agro-pod deck might evolve from this. Vorapede will never replace Acidic Slime IMO, but could be used with it. I guess the game state would dictate would one of the 2 5 drops you fetch with POD. I see the build as something with Strangleroot Geist, Melira, Birds of Paradise, Pyreheart Wolf, Hellrider, Flayer of the Hatebound, Acidic Slime, Vorapede, Fling & Prey Upon for removal, Urabrask the hidden and Inferno Titan. Any thoughts?
The Cage is the ultimate hoser, I agree that it does nothing, but suck.
I’m not sure if I missed it, but did you guys talk about Sudden Disappearance? Am I the only one excited about this thing, with Sun Dial of the Infinite? That deck that Scott and Abbey just did is begging for this card! Seems like 6 mana (only one on color) is not very much for an effect that can be abused.
Good point about them gaying up the game, I’ll never forget when the pentagram disappeared from Unholy Strength. Lame.
One last thing, who was playing Yatzee or D&D during this? lol, sounded like someone was rolling dice for most of the cast!
Thanks guys, keep the content coming!
Ha, should have read Melira more closely, as it specifies -1/-1 counters… duh. Guess this undying thing doesn’t break anything wide open, but may still make pod more interesting.
Hey guys I love the show,
I just have one small request, when you talk about cards could you show the card in the video, I know it is a podcast but you are using youtube anyway….this would take advantage of the medium a little more.
Sounded like someone was playing with dice the whole podcast. Very annoying.
I had to turn it off less than halfway through because I couldn’t stand listening to someone throwing dice around their desk anymore.
