@daniel: Your Welcome, I felt that most articles are just a list of cards and don't really get into the deck building process, which is one of the most important skills in Magic. :D

@max: its a delver deck designed to have an advantage against other delver decks, and when you start changing your aggresive cards for slower, midrange cards you become more reliant to tapping out turn 3/4 and then losing when they put a threat down that you cannot deal with.

@greg: Thalia would be annoying, but the fact that there is 4x gutshot means you have more answers to her then the number of Thalia's that should be in their deck along with 2 ranger's and 4 huntmaster's (Flip it, Holla) so instead of being game ending, its a just an annoyance.

Mayor of Avabruck: I think is a trap, due to the fact that its unflipped side is a little underwhelming, and its fragile, but I can see how it would be appealing if U/W control becomes very popular.

Viridian Emissary: If the format is a bunch of white/green dorks attacking then this card is definitely solid. Being able to accelerate is pretty solid, and having 2 power means its a good enough clock. If you want emissary you probably want to fit pod into somewhere and if your going that far, your better off building a deck designed on exploiting pod to the fullest.

Think Twice: A little slow, and ravings is a little better, but since we are a Tempo-Oriented deck, we want to be maximizing our mana every turn, which makes cheaper spells better, and I'm not sure if our plan A. is to durdle around with 2 mana cantrips.

Tracker's Instincts: now we have a interesting card, I think that impulse for creatures is a powerful effect, but if you want to dig for huntmaster you should consider Green Sun's Zenith, as it is a sorcery for delver, and it allows you to get huntmaster, while also being additional daybreak rangers, etc.

I played this for the first time yesterday and opened the worst cards ever. Can't say I was that excited by the format, but maybe it was just the card pool. Esp when 2 of my opponents had Champion of the Parish AND Elite Inquisitor. Needless to say, I got my @$$ handed to me bigtime. I might give it another go but I think regular drafts are more fun.

If he hadn't cast a spell, you couldn't cycle the runeboggle, and wouldn't have drawn the blind hunter. That's pretty sweet.

Oh yeah, moar singing.

Hey Nicholas,

we had spoke the other day in our friendly local card shop and discussed the pro's and con's of Wolfhunter's Quiver in draft and you had mentioned you had wrote an article on huntsmaster.

I am digging this deck a lot, but my concern with it atm is that if you are on the draw and you see Thalia, Guardian of Thraben drop turn 2 that you might run into some real problems. So i think your best bet might have a few more turn two options that will put you in a better place on the draw. I think your best bets are Mayor of Avabruck(which most have stated) and maybe a Viridian Emissary which would help you get that 3rd turn huntsmaster that would get you to your goal a bit faster.

Also two strong possibilities for this deck would be Think Twice(obvious) and maybe a Tracker's Instincts or two since you have got the colors for the flashback and it will allow you some fast dig to get your huntsmaster.

Thanks for the article and keep them coming!

@EGOLF: Prahv works on skybreak, if you watch your video you misclick and choose Indrik stomphowler as the target damage to be prevented, you just didn't notice cause there wasn't a super prevention shield lingering.

This is designed like an aggro deck that is not that agressive. It seems like a delver deck backed up my midrange creatures, so the times you don't draw delver the vapor snags and gut shots are far less exciting. I would much prefer to see delver, vapor snag and probably ponder and thought scour cut for a more stable midrange base to better use huntmaster and daybreak ranger,. adding desperate ravings, strong removal (geist flames and incinerates and probably go up to a full complement of rangers). The deck as it is would struggle to beat a single fiend hunter.

Just one question. Game 8 Turn 8. You didn't attack. Were you expecting them to get rid of that enchantment or play a haste creature of some sort?

I'm just bad at Magic and I would like to know.
